The Pre-Professional Training Program (PPTP) is an 8 month conservatory training intensive for serious theatre artists intending to enter the acting profession. The program is divided into three terms and admission to this program is by audition only.Neptune Theatre is holding auditions for its 2010 Pre-Professional Training Program (PPTP) on June 29th at Neptune Theatre. Students attend classes in acting, voice, movement, text, singing and dancing and have the unique opportunity to study with working professionals from the Nova Scotia acting community.
Classes are held from Monday to Thursday from 9am to 1pm and each term builds on the skills learned in the previous term culminating in a Studio Project performed on Neptune Theatre’s Studio Stage.
In addition to attending classes, students are given a mandatory play reading list of 25 plays and they are expected to attend all plays in Neptune Theatre’s current season. Tickets are provided free of charge, and discussions of the plays will follow viewings. Required course books include Michael Shurtleff: Audition; Peter Brook: The Empty Space; Uta Hagan: A Respect for Acting.
Audition Requirements: Please prepare one contemporary monologue and a second monologue of your choice. Please be prepared to sing a few bars from a song of your choice a cappella.
Tuition: The cost for the program is $2500 (tax included) and students wishing to expand their studies may take other workshops and courses at Neptune Theatre School for 50% off.
Financial Aid is available through the Edmund C. Bovey Bursary.
