12 Weeks
Four Hours per day Monday – Thursday (9am to 1pm)
Courses:
Voice for Actors II
9am-11am Mondays and Wednesdays
Students continue with the work explored in Voice I as they develop their speaking voice through exploration of breath support, tension release, proper alignment, resonance and diction while learning to connect voice to the body. This class introduces students to phonetic work and dialects.
Movement for Actors II
11am-1pm Mondays and Wednesdays
Students learn to free and strengthen their actor’s body through various dance and movement disciplines. Students learn to overcome their habitual body patterns through body awareness and tension release to create a flexible instrument that can be readily accessible for their stage work.
Acting/Text II
9am-1pm Tuesdays
The in-depth study of the acting process continues in the winter term with the focus shifting to text work and the principles of scene analysis using monologues and scene study. Students develop a rehearsal process and integrate body and voice into the work. Every second week students spend two hours on text analysis covering playwrights in classical to contemporary theatre. Uta Hagan’s Respect for Acting and Michael Shurtleff’s Audition are used as text book support for this class.
Dance II

Students continue with the work explored in Dance I. Modern and ballroom dancing is added to the curriculum at this level as students learn to move with their own physical style.
