The Color Purple - Toronto January 27

 

The producers of Neptune’s production of The Color Purple are expanding the existing company of actors for this production.

The Color Purple Actors engaged in this contract will play characters who are African and African-American. In particular we encourage actors identifying as a part of the African Diaspora to submit themselves for these auditions. The roles being cast are:

 

Swing (m) covering Preacher, Buster, Grady, Adam

- Mezzo-Soprano; at least E3 to Ab5

 

Swing (f) covering Shug, Church Ladies 1/2/3, Squeak and Church soloists

- Baritone; at least Bb2 to Ab4 

 

Artists should be prepared as both soloist and in group harmony

 

These auditions will be held in Toronto on Sunday, January 27, 2019 and submissions by video tape will be accepted. Each artist is asked to provide a pop/rock/Gospel song in the style of the show. For an audition artists are asked to send their head shot and resume to auditions@neptunetheatre.com. Video submissions may be sent to auditions@neptunetheatre.com by Friday Jan 25, 2019.

Please note that the first day of rehearsal is March 12, 2019, the closing performance is June 2, 2019.

 


 

2019 General auditions will be in Halifax and Toronto in January 2019.

 
The Artistic Director will invite submissions from artists that were not seen in the 2018 Generals in
January/February 2018.

General Audition Information


Neptune Theatre will be holding General Auditions for the 2019-2020 season in Halifax and Toronto.

 

Halifax Generals
Musical and Non-Musical Auditions will be held Friday January 11 and Saturday January 12, 2019
Submission deadline Jan 2, 2019

Toronto Generals
Musical General Auditions will be held Friday January 25
Non-Musical Auditions will be held on Saturday January 26
Musical & Non-Musical Auditions will be held on Sunday January 27
Submission deadline Jan 15, 2019

 

Artistic Director Jeremy Webb would like to see Artists that he has not seen in the past year. If Jeremy is familiar with your work or if you have attended Neptune auditions in the past year, you may not be asked to audition. The Artistic Director has the 2019-2020 season programmed and will be quietly considering casting ahead of specific auditions for Billy Elliot and other productions in the season (season launch is March 6th).

Artists should submit their labelled (First Name_Last Name) head shots and resumes through the Neptune submissions site  neptunetheatre.com/submit   Please specify musical or non-musical. No agency submissions, agents please ask your clients to submit individually. Only selected Artists will be contacted to arrange an audition.

For Musical Theatre auditions please prepare two contrasting musical theatre songs and have a contemporary monologue.

For Non-Musical Theatre auditions please prepare one classical and one contemporary monologue.

Equity members will be seen first at all open audition calls. Equity members cast in the 2019-2020 season will be engaged under an Equity form of contract. CAEA members: please bring your membership card to the audition.
