Alyssa and Jamie are best friends. But then Becky comes along. Some miscommunications combined with social media posts turns into a whirlwind cyber-disaster. The thought provoking play FallOUT, focuses on three “friends” and the effects social media has on their relationships. This Canadian play helps educate students on issues of cyber-bullying and encourages them to join the conversation on mental health awareness. Students will recognize themselves in the characters and their actions, and a talk back at the end allows a safe space to share their thoughts and reactions.

The actors in this play must play their characters as both thirteen year old high school students and people in their early twenties at college.

Characters Descriptions:

JAMIE - not always the cool kid. Feels a bit misunderstood. Has issues with anxiety and feeling accepted.

ALYSSA - everybody’s best friend. Easily influenced. Happy go lucky.

BECKY - the “mean girl”. Full of herself. Popular at school and quick to judge. (This person also plays the character “Boy”)

Forest in My Room

There are big changes in Ruby’s life: she has moved to a new city, left her favourite forest behind and started at a new school. Fortunately, her new friend Ella shares her passion for books, fantasy and unraveling mysteries. Ruby’s mother is not feeling well and won’t talk about it; Ruby only knows because she has been spying on her. The two girls hatch a plan that may get them into trouble, but they must uncover the truth. Friendship, family, adventures and challenges; there is something for everyone in the warm-hearted play.

Character Descriptions:

RUBY - 8 years old. Just moved to a new neighborhood. Loves stories. Very curious and observant.

MAMMA - Ruby’s Mom. Single mother. Professional and hard working. Would do anything for her daughter.

ELLA - 8 years old. Friendly. Confident. A self proclaimed “expert’ in magical creatures.

Also plays the teacher voice over.
