Sensory Friendly Performances

In the 2018-19 Season, Neptune Theatre has introduced our Sensory Friendly Performances. Sometimes refered to as "relaxed performances", this is a new initiative that gives the opportunity for those with sensory sensitivities to enjoy live theatre. With the support of Autism Nova Scotia we work with the production team to make the selected performance as accessible as possible. Each ticket purchased is accompanied by a caregiver ticket at your request, allowing theatre lovers of all abilities the freedom to experience the wonderful entertainment Neptune Theatre has to offer.

Accomodations for these performances will include:

  • A pre-show speech introducing the show and what to expect
  • Lower sound levels
  • Reduction of loud and jarring sounds
  • Reduction of flashing and strobe lights (some lighting effects remain)
  • Modification of the house lights during the performance
  • Designated quiet areas and "take a break" space
  • Extra staff and support

Accomodations of house rules:

  • Audience members are free to talk and move around during the show
  • Extra staff and volunteers
  • Food is allowed in the theatre
  • The ability to come and go as needed
  • No clapping (snapping instead to show your appreciation)

NOTE: If you have any SPECIFIC requests/requirement to make this show accessible to you please contact us at school@neptunetheatre.com and will do our best to accomodate.
