ASL Interpreted Performances

Neptune Theatre is now introducing ASL (American Sign Language) interpreted performances - a new initiative to offer Deaf and hard-of-hearing audiences the opportunity to enjoy live theatre. ASL interpreted performances will be offered once over the run of select productions, and involve no changes to the production on stage.

Neptune's ASL interpreted performance initiative is a work-in-progress, one we hope to continue growing and improving. Feedback from Deaf community members after the show is strongly encouraged. Keep an eye on this page for announcements about upcoming ASL interpreted performances! Please note, we want to help make your experience at Neptune Theatre the best it can be. Our interpreters are working very hard to give the most accurate interpretation of the language on stage, so we ask that patrons please refrain from speaking to them during the performance.

  • When booking tickets (boxoffice@neptunetheatre.com), members of the Deaf community should identify themselves in order to ensure optimal seating for sightlines of the interpreters as well as the action.
  • Hearing persons can purchase tickets to the ASL-interpreted performance like any other, except in the section reserved for ASL audiences. Remaining seats in this section will be released to the general public 48 hours prior to the performance.
  • If no one has requested tickets in the ASL section 48 hours before the show, the ASL interpreters will be canceled and the performance will proceed as any other.

Neptune Theatre is located on sacred land that has been the site of human activity since time immemorial.
We are in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq, and we acknowledge them as the past, present, and future caretakers of this land.
